Vanguard II is part of the second wave of old SNK arcade games turned into Minis. The original Vanguard was in the first wave and was a childhood favorite of mine. It was even better than I remembered, still one of the best scrolling shooters around. I actually didn’t realize there even was a Vanguard II until recently. There’s a reason why the game has such a low profile.Vanguard II bears only the vaguest resemblance to the original game: it’s a shooter, you fly a spaceship, and you’re attacking something. It’s really more of a combination of Time Pilot, Xevious, and Bosconian, and it doesn’t seem to contain even a single feature of the original Vanguard. Instead of winding your way through a vast enemy complex, Vanguard II has you flying over a large floating fortress, from a top-down perspective.

Star Wars Battlefront II for PSP is similar to its recently announced console counterpart with space combat, playable Jedi, and Star Wars: Episode III Revenge of the Sith content, yet it still boasts several distinct features meant to embrace the "on-the-go" nature of a handheld system. The game includes several unique mini-campaigns as opposed to the much longer campaign seen on consoles. Players can join the Rebellion as a smuggler, work for themselves as a mercenary for hire, or use their Imperial sniping skills to rid the galaxy of pesky species like Jawas, Ewoks and Gungans. Wi-Fi compatibility permits up to four players to join in at once, either cooperatively or competitively, and they can also partake in classic Instant Action mode to fight their favorite Star Wars battles any way they want to.

Available as part of the NeoGeo Station on PlayStation Network, this is a downloadable version of the classic NeoGeo game.Alpha Mission II is a 2D vertical scrolling shooter with a great deal of depth for two players moving vertically up the screen boards shooting anything that moves. Equip up to three pieces of armor, which also serve as weapons, for a variety of attacks such as the laser and flamethrower. Use them to defeat the evil “Fulvar” and save mankind!
